There are over 4000 parole-elligible prisoners in Wisconsin who are long past their legal release dates. Many have rehabilitated themselves and are ready to be good citizens instead of costing the taxpayer 20 to 30 thousand a year. Here is an eloquent essay and charts about the radical change in parole policy that happened in the early 90's when parole virtually stopped. With this blog and others we hope to provide information that will help our state make wiser prison policy decisions.
